I’m looking to do the same in a few months. Hmu if you’re trying to get a group together
I'm interested too!
I did last year and my boyfriend and I are about to do that again for 4 months starting next month. I recommend Airbnb, but make sure to stay at least 30 days and you pay less for a month stay. Staying 30 days min also waves this one fee - so if you really only want to stay 28/29 days, stay 30 and just leave early. It will be cheaper
Last year I was at Booz Allen and for timesheets I put it in based on the city I was in at the time but my address was still my home address
If you're getting a group together, I'm interested as well
I’ve done this with Airbnb across multiple cities. I always negotiate with my airbnb hosts and they are generally amenable to a reduced rate (doesn’t hurt to have good reviews on your profile). I don’t book too far out in advance.
Thinking about doing this in Hawaii in sept/oct!! Let’s start a group and hang if we’re all WFH 👀
it's the same reason month-to-month rentals are more expensive than 9 mo+ contracts. Also, furnished rentals are always way more expensive because these are usually corporate customers. The only way this makes sense is if you move out of your current rental, put stuff into storage so you are only paying for 1 place. Also, do this with a friend because frequently a 2 bdrm is only marginally more expensive than a 1.
I recommend biting the bullet and doing this now. Back to office will make this unfeasible, same after you have children or other baggage.
Yep, Airbnb/VRBO/ TurnKey/Vacasa is your best. Either bite the bullet on rent price or find a few young consultants / old college friends working remote to join you.
Yes, but I’ve been traveling to friends and families to save on cost. Most are willing to let me stay for a few days/week and I obviously offer to return the favor. Treat them out to eat or buy them a gift and it’s win win win situation. To be fair though, I’ve slept on air mattresses/couches. If you want something nice, then I’m not too sure, hotel might be cheaper for shorter stays if Deloitte has any company discount codes.
I’ve been trying to do the same thing and running into the same issue.. airbnbs are so expensive. Alternatively, if you’re open to staying for longer, there are a lot of FB groups for subletting and it might be cheaper bc you could split a place with roommates. However, depending on how the sublet is done and the state’s laws you might have to file taxes there
I’d be down to get a group together and get an Airbnb in another city for a month or two! DM me with some cities if you’re interested
I did I really only could afford it bc a friend came with. There are some nicer hostels we stayed at that we could afford private rooms for cheap. They have good coworking spaces too.
