Hi fishes,
I am planning a switch so was going through some salary data for a software engineer. My ex-senior manager recommended me a website: Growceed.com which helped me a lot in getting clarification about a lot of things but I am in doubt whether the average salaries of software engineer mentioned on Growceed.com really that much in top MNC companies.
Hi Fishes, Can Anyone please tell, one of my friend joined Tech M in August, At the time of joining she was 3 months pregnant and now shes worrying about her manager. Chubb is a huge company, so everything is dependent on what area you work in and who you work for. I think the first person was much more optimistic than me - my initial response was RUN! I've worked with many different departments, all levels of employee, and haven't seen any without serious issues. I'd generally qualify the culture as toxic. The CEO is happy to be shedding employees and has been inviting people to leave for the last 2 years (at least).
I have several friends that had been there 35+ years and recently retired or are about to - they're miserable and very disappointed with the direction the company is going. I'd say almost everyone below VP has one foot out the door, so, I agree, you'll probably be able to negotiate a decent salary.
One thing to keep in mind is that they are consolidating offices, so several are closing and pushing people into Philly and Jersey City. There's an additional city tax withholding if you work and/or live in Philly, so be prepared for that. There's no employee parking in JC, so you'll have to pay for that if you drive into JC (depending on where you live, it's cheaper to park at a light rail station and take the train).
Eventually everyone will be back in the office 5 days a week, so don't let the recruiter bullshit you about hybrid. As a general rule of thumb, it is always a good idea to ask why the position is open. Pay very close attention to body language when they answer - even if their mouth is telling you it's all good, if it's a lie, their body will broadcast it - for some reason, this question seems to always catch people off guard.
I recommend going on Glassdoor and reading as many recent reviews as you can. I'd also search the fish bowls here to get a sense of current climate. Good luck on your interview!
Very manger specific but overall not bad. RTO is huge right now so be ready to be in the office.
Good amount of turnover recently due to the same so can hopefully negotiate a good salary for yourself. Ask about employee retention.
Really every department or EVP is different in what they expect. If anyone else chimes in that it’s all roses and sunshine and everything is perfect don’t believe them cause they have their head in the sand.
Good luck.
Thanks again for taking the time to post this, enjoy your day
Make sure u know the interviewer's credentials -- my problem was I knew far more that my interviewer!
Please try with enthusiasm and experience, hopefully we can work together
I have worked for Chubb for almost 26 years. It is the largest multinational insurance carrier in the world. As in any corporation there are some great areas, some not so great and some that struggle. If you are willing to show up, be professional, work hard and don’t allow yourself to buy in to the negativity you can have a great career! Lots of movement available, if you are flexible and willing to move laterally.
No company is perfect. The company is making a number of innovative changes, and people can find change difficult. Especially long term Chubb employees who were used to limited changes in the old world.
Bring a positive attitude, negotiate the starting salary and pto, and enjoy the ride.
Don’t do it
