I feel like you just outlined a ton of pros
Haha I guess then cons. Just looking to take an objective look at the decision and would love anyone who has experienced a similar situation’s input
More money, title bump, more PTO, job security? LEAVE. If you hate it you’ll always have D on the resume and can use your grad degree to go somewhere else.
Pro
And a 45% pay bump to weather any storm.
I would take it. If your at an age where it’s not super risky, meaning you don’t have a family or mortgage, it’s definite yes. Use the extra money to create an emergency fund in case something goes wrong and constantly update your resume. Good luck!

What’s the worst that could happen? It doesn’t workout and you go back to Deloitte or a similar firm? I say go for it. The opportunities at smaller firms (and companies in general) are SO MUCH better than art large firms, especially early in your career.

Make sure you read the Glassdoor of the small company.
I feel like you already know you should take it. Trust your gut. Seems like you’re only concern is that it’s a smaller company, and you’ve been used to working in a very large company.
Yes exactly. That’s my only worry because it’s a “too good to be true” feeling as well. Maybe all the gaslighting at D has made me too cynical?

Use the LinkedIn premium trial to dig into the company. Find out how long avg tenure is. Find people who worked there previously and see what their progression was like
Agreed with doing research on Glassdoor. But if that passes do it man I would!
Take me with you!
Make the jump.
I left a ~1000 person company to join a team of a dozen a bit over a year ago.
I did it for a 37% pay bump plus bonus and thought I was hot stuff.
You’d better hop on the unlimited PTO and health plan, chief.

What are you worried about? Seems like a much better job all around. I would just be sure to check whether that no premium health insurance is actually good (what is the coverage, what are the copays, etc).
And I would take into consideration exit opportunity. You mentioned getting a degree. Do you plan to try to use it to pivot (should probably go full time) or are you thinking you might leave the company in a few years?
I just took something really similar. I'm thrilled
You’re flexin hard on us. Leaaaaaave
Ask about how they work and culture if it matters to you. There are small companies don't have the same resources, so things you take for granted, proper HR, properly filing your taxes, managing project budgets, proper resources to successfully manage projects (will you be operating at what your perception of manager currently is or a step below), variety in terms of project selection, etc you may have to put extra work in to do. Only potential cons I can think of. I came from a small company, so those are the main differences I came across
Oh and make sure the work life balance is reality. You trade some things to then spend more time on proposals, etc so it's less "optional"
Just made a similar move. Leaving a big firm means leaving a lot of the arbitrary deadlines and nonsense behind. Loving it so far
Everyone jumps at leave... but are you happy now? That’s worth an insane amount of money. People also say leave and come back if you want. How many of them actually did it? I’m where I am today (on deck) due to the groundwork starting at SC. I could have gotten a pay bump tons of times but I’ve always been very happy here and could see a clear pathway to P for me.
Not saying stay. I’m just saying be real about what you want and make your own choice.
I’m actually very unhappy. I feel neglected and very devalued by a mgr who brutally overworked me by myself on a project and is now telling me that work was only average. The firm does a great job at moving the finish line every time you do what they ask
Thank you fishbowl community. I took the offer but am staying an extra 1.5 months to help transition and help my team finish busy season. Appreciate the advice all, this community is great
Good luck! 🙂
Big fish small pond > small fish big pond.
Are u in technology? Cloud anAlytics etc? If so trust ur skillsets and forget the artificial branding that Deloitte has brainwashed you
