Have seen a number of Product Manager openings at Capital One in McLean. Curious if anyone may be able to provide some insight into the culture and work life balance at the Sr Manager level. As posting in the exit opps bowl might indicate, I'm a bit burnt out on consulting. 12+ yrs exp., FWIW.

Yeah work hours are pretty chill, I’m actually going to get my MBA and want to pivot into product in tech so I’m working with the product team this summer to get an understanding of that group. Pay won’t be the highest as D1 said but the culture and other benefits more than make up for it

like

They were my client for years. Work hours seem very flexible, no one is online before 9am or after 4pm. Their campuses are beautiful if you ever get to go to one. I’m sure the benefits are great, but the pay didn’t seem incredible when I interviewed.

Shoot me a dm. Not in product. But have lots of interactions with that side

OP, get it to get the PM qual on your resume then get out. You can coast doing 40-45 hrs/
wk easily there.

The work life balance will be the best thing. I worked from home a couple days a week there, often would come in between 9 and 10 and leave at 5. Maybe check my email later unless it was a busy week.

I no longer have access to the Microsoft bowl due to the change in work email address, so I thought I'd see if any Microsoft management (former or current) are in here. I'm looking to confirm that when potentially coming back on at Microsoft, the hiring manager will be able to see my previous connects. I had a great experience at Microsoft, and would like to keep that door open in my mind, though my last connect has what I would call unfair characterizations due to a unique chain of events.

I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.

Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.

JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

I’ve been proposed an exit as Product Owner at a real company, not a consulting one. Staff seems nice, good culture, good salary (less than consulting but well), BUT I would have to move countries for that job and start a new life.

I’ve also been proposed a Manager position at a consulting company in my home city, with potential of bigger salary thanks to bonuses. Culture seems good... But I’m sure it’s gonna be a hell lot of work.

Which one would you take? Should I exit and never look back?

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. Interested to hear thoughts on this: 5+ YOE in FS consulting as an SC at tier 3 firm. Interviewing at Deloitte for an SC position. I have a good reputation and setup at my firm and am on a great track to make Manager in 1-2 years. However, no one has heard of my firm and am really interested in a M7 MBA before I'm 30 (so enroll in 2-3 years). What is more valuable for an MBA: making manager at a no name firm or the "prestige" of having Deloitte on my resume?
