That’s a mighty fine opinion ACC1
Only got the Marriott card for the sign up bonus
Is the Marriott card worth it?
You’ll generate a multitude of points for hotel stays using the Marriott card at Marriott properties. I think UR points are wasted if spent on hotels. So personally, I think you’re doing it right.
EY1, why would you say that? Transferring UR points to Hyatt is one of the best value uses of UR points...
I find the points get me much better flights than the same amount of airline miles.
I’m a Marriott person(hence the Marriott card) so I would never transfer one UR point for one Marriott point. Furthermore, if there is a Marriott or SPG where I’m going I will only stay there for the loyalty benefits I have developed. Some of the boutique hotels on chase’s website are demanding outrageous rates.
Hmm are Marriott points converted to delta points better than UR to buy delta flights?
EY1 - right, I'm a Marriott/SPG person myself and it's a terrible transfer rate to them specifically. I transfer to Hyatt for one night or weekend stays, where I won't hit the 5th night free I'd get the most value from for using Marriott/SPG points. Just think to ignore that Hyatt transfer bc of your loyalty to Marriott is doing yourself a disservice.
OP, I would check both options for Delta - you can use points on the portal for 1.5 cents / point, whereas typically you'll get less than that value from Delta miles (but not always, hence why you should check both)
Hyatt’s just aren’t as nice in my opinion. But I never use points for anything less than a Westin/JW/Renaissance
@EY 1 - Hyatts aren't as nice for business travel or point redemption?
I don’t think the hotel is as nice. I like to stay at fancy hotels on vacation.
90% of Hyatt hotels are noteably better than their competitor's equivalent hotels. It's only when you get to luxury hotels that Hyatt's offerings are mostly uninspiring
