After a layoff, I recently received a job offer in Bangalore at 8.5 lakhs, but I was disappointed that I couldn't negotiate due to budget constraints, especially with a significant portion being variable pay. I’m looking to learn which skills could help me demand a higher salary and establish a better position in the industry.

Talked to a recruiter today and he said he would give my resume to the company for the job position. It sounded like a cool job. How likely is it I’ll get a call for an interview?

I am currently in an IT internship position (making pretty solid money considering) and following this summer I will stay on part time during my senior year (discussing a full-time job offer after already). I’m getting my computer science degree, so I would like to do something more technical in the workplace when I graduate. How do I advocate myself for that to my manager without sounding unappreciative of the position I’m in?

Has anyone who's worked in HR, Finance, or another role with visibility to compensation information been able to use that as leverage for salary negotiations?

To put it bluntly, I know certain people with less experience and a lower performance rating are getting paid more than me due to my role working with payroll data. I suspect this was due to the fact that I did not counter offer when I accepted this role, which was a few months ago, and now I regret it.
