Hello

How do I ask my manager for a raise? I made 32k as service desk analyst last year and this year my pay was only bumped up to a $1. I do a lot more than what my job description is and put more hours. I have been with the company for 1 year and I only get $1 raise. I don’t know how to ask my manager to raise my pay more because $32k a year is so low for someone who has a bachelor in IT and google certs.

It's about understanding the value you provide rather than education etc.

If you can argue that the value you bring to the company is significant, e.g. if you weren't around the company would lose x and y, or gains z by you being there, and can quantify it, then it is much easier to ask for a raise.

Alternatively, figure out what others make in the industry in similar roles and use that as an ankor point for your request.

I would just go to your manager and present your case on why you should be making more. The thing I learned a long time ago is the answer is always no if you don't ask and you have to be able to advocate for yourself if you want better for yourself.

Hi Fishes,
I cleared LTI all rounds and in HR discussion we came on mutual agreement for 16lpa .I have 7 years of experience and they gave me Specialist - Data Engineering(P3) role. I was waiting for offer letter and when I received the offer letter I was shocked to see that CTC mentioned was 14LPA and joining date was only 15days from now ,which is way early.

Hey y'all, kind of a two part question:
1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?

Tech companies who have gone remote since the pandemic: do you get a stipend for home internet or a mobile hot spot for when your home internet goes out? Some of my employees are having issues that directly impact their ability to join customer calls, but my company’s IT department doesn’t offer any support. Wondering if that’s still the norm.

I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.

Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.

JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

Hey everyone - I could do with some advice. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am having a hard time getting interview calls. I am trying to pivot from consulting to the industry and targeting project/program management roles. I have been doing this work for 7+ years now (total YOE 12 years) so certainly have the right skillset. I have tried a couple of referrals too but that didn’t help either. Any advice you guys could provide would be helpful. Thanks!

Been working at my company as a new grad for almost a year, but don’t see myself in the team that I am in (working with Salesforce) for long term. Interested in frontend dev and have been learning on my own. Manager says chase doesnt have much React opportunities. Is it possible to make a switch when I barely have experience? Are there companies that will hire by seeing that I am willing to learn and am interested in frontend even tho I don’t have much experience with it yet?
