Hello, I've been working in Healthcare support roles for years now and I am struggling to find work again after my previous job laid us off (contract completion). I dabbled self-studying medical coding and fell off of it. Now, I am thinking if I should go back to school at our comm college. Problem is, I'm not sure what I should go for. I'm interested in Tech and programming but I also kinda want to pursue medical coding yet does any of that worth it nowadays with this economy and job market?

It’s sad to think about, but you’re spot on.

Intake Coordinator

I feel like it's my age. I'm 57 all I hear is you've got lots of experience. Ok I sure do, what's up with that. So I've started lying about my age, I'm getting more response but not hired. I have excellent professional refernces. Heck I've also went down a few dollars an hour and still no response 😳

If you like both consider an rhit it gives you the med technology training and coding, it is also very versatile for growth

I think anything that involves Tech is worth it. I don't know what the pay is nowadays and as far as coding goes, alot of clinics and hospitals are looking for coding specialists. With coding you can work from home if that is something that interests you.

I say go for it! The more experience/education you have, the better it’ll be for you in the long run.

Hi! I totally get how easy it is to fall off with CPC studying — medical coding can feel like a lot when you’re trying to figure out where to start again. The great thing is you don’t have to choose between coding and tech. Healthcare is becoming more tech‑driven every year, and people who understand both sides are in high demand.

I’ve worked in outpatient/physician coding, auditing, and education for almost 30 years, and I’ve actually been helping beginners build simple study plans, checklists, and step‑by‑step guidance so they don’t feel overwhelmed. If you ever want help getting back on track or blending tech + coding into a stronger career path, feel free to reach out. You can absolutely do both.

I grew up in a nuclear family away from extended relatives who were never really close. Parents were either emotionally unavailable or distant. All I've wanted for myself was a big loving family to call my own.. my parents are unaccepting of my sexuality & my partners family is also quite fucked up so she's isn't super close to them either. Honestly this sucks & it feels like I'll never have a huge supportive family I've wanted & craved for.

I have an interview for a LTC/Rehab Nurse Manager, Infection Preventionist position next week. My base salary is $40/hour as a charge nurse. With overtime I’ll be finishing the year about $15000 above my base pay. I have questions: first, I know I’ll be putting in at least the same number of hours I’m current working (50+/wk). How do I leverage that to avoid a pay cut. Also, any tips from people in this position?

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!

My questions are is it typical to have 1 person doing both the billing and denials within a new vertical for all ins.? How difficult is billing for dme as I only have experience in gyn onc and lactation billing? What's a fair salary? I have 8+ yoe in rcm, no certs.

I am a clinical research coordinator working in Austin, Texas. I have my Masters in Cell & Molecular Biology and have a year of laboratory research experience.

I’ve been in my position for 5 months now. I make $27 hourly which amounts to about $51,000 yearly. Am I being under paid? Are all coordinator positions hourly? As a laboratory researcher I was salary :(

How do I go about asking for a raise or should I explore other companies or medical schools that have clinical research?

Hello, I’m currently looking for a non clinical position in the Charlotte area, more in the public health field. Does anyone have any referrals or info on any jobs?

I have a MHA, MBA, and BSHA. I’m wanting to get into a supervisor or manger role but I don’t have the experience. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I dive in and start getting the experience I need? I live in Washington and work in Oregon. Also, anything using my MBA would be favored as well, this degree is not healthcare specific. Thank you!
