Hello,
Wondering if there are any dialysis social workers that can share pros and cons of working in a dialysis clinic? I am considering a position in this area and would love to learn more about it.

5 years at fmc. Pros Is that it’s not a set 8-5. I came and left as the shifts came in. If you are the sole social worker at a clinic they will expect you to do everything. Daily reminder that you are not the secretary for the staff or the patients. Pros is that I was able to do hospice on the side during work hours and go to conferences without taking time off, they didn’t mind. But I worked two clinics one on mon/Wednesday other Tues/Thursday. Try to negotiate 4/10s. I didn’t work on Fridays. Or do what’s best for you. I only left bc I moved & I had my lcsw and felt extremely over qualified

You will never do any counseling. You are there to set up transportation and to handle any problem the patient might have: housing, medication, insurance, etc. A high school graduate could do this job.
Unless you’re based in a hospital, you will never talk to another social worker. And if you don’t yet have your state clinical license, how will you add up the hours needed for clinical?
There’s so much detailed charting that is required by the federal govt. There’s way better jobs.

For me, I set 20-30 pg min/night and listen to a different audiobook to/from work. The audiobook thing is new as I've never read >1 at once. Considering 1 chapter/night w/ 3 different books (3 ch/night)... I just want to read them all though not sure - may muddle if one > others.

I am planning to join in JP Morgan. This is going to be my first company switch (working at onshore since last few years) so wanted to know below things:
1). Is 27L is good enough for 10 yoe resource ? I have seen people joining 24-25L at 4 yoe.
2). How is asset and wealth management (AWM)..? JP Morgan

Additional Posts in Social Workers & Therapists

Hello, I’m an LMSW in Michigan. I have 15 years of experience in the field as a clinician, supervisor, and an administrator. I am feeling burnt out and unsure of my future. I have worked mainly in the Community Mental Health and the VA Health systems, hence my fatigue. I’ve flirted with private practice work in the past, but my spouse has been worried about not having affordable healthcare and benefits that each system provides. Is it worth the jump? Am I overthinking things?

I graduated in May of 22. I transitioned from being an intern to being a full time counselor, now for 6 months. I feel like I might be catching my agency at a tough time, but as an employee it doesn’t seem to be trying anything to keep me here besides the occasional ‘motivational’ posts from the administrative team. I felt like I was lowballed during my offer, and my negotiation salary was denied since this is technically my first “professional” job. Pt 2 in comments:

Hello Everyone!

I very recently accepted the position of Sourcing Specialist at TidalHealth - a large Heathcare group in my area. A few of my target positions include Social Workers and Therapists. If those in this group can provide me knowledge on what you are looking for in employment offers, salary expectations, the ideal work environment, and any/all factors that would help me in my quest to improve my work ability.

I appreciate any and all responses!

Kind regards,

Anyone here ever struggled working at a private practice during your first year as a licensed counselor? I work well with the clients but I find it difficult to accept the pay I receive for the amount of work I do and is required. Lately, I realize I haven’t been putting in much effort towards paperwork because of the pay I receive.

Recently received my CSW license and have started working as a therapist at an outpatient clinic. Is a starting salary of $64,500 fair? I am supposed to aim for 28 billing hours (get paid if clients show or not) a week with 12 hours of admin time for other tasks. Thanks for any input.

LCSW 50k loan repayment- Has anyone been granted a contract through the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program? I’m interested in applying for the 2 years of full time work as an LCSW but my loans are a bit under 50k so I’m wondering if they would only give me what I need to clear my loans or would I still get 50k as long as I complete my contract ?

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

How many therapists (and social workers too!) see a therapist themselves? Do you find it helpful?
I think there's this myth that therapists have all their own sh*t figured out, and for me at least I know that's far from true (hopefully it isn't just me). On the contrary, I think we should be leading by example!
