Do you have a clinical license? If so that is really low. I make about 70k with and LCSW in NC 4 years post licensure
You're definitely underpaid, and I'm sure it's not a reflection of your abilities or credentials. I would start looking elsewhere. Santa Barbara is generally a wealthy region, surely there are employers out there who can pay you accordingly....
You definitely should be making more. I was making that amount 6 years ago and I was in a poor state South Carolina LMSW.
In that area, you could probably ask for at least $60k, possibly more depending on your experience and whether you're licensed.
You should be making at least 10% more IMO
Yes you are def underpaid. I would estimate you should be making atleast 60k. Sounds like it might be time to look for something new. Even if you just get offers to use as leverage, you shoudl def see what you can find.
I work in the Bay Area and it depends on your degree, license and what type of social work you are doing. For community work without a license you are maybe slightly underpaid. If you have a license you are definitely underpaid. There is a big jump once you have the LCSW. I work in healthcare now but and started with years of experience out of state but in California in 2018 59k at a regional center when I switched to medical social work I jumped to 76k in 2019 and now with license 100k. So much depends on the actual type of work you do.
