Damn. I got a nice raise every year working client side
As soon as I went client side, I’ve gotten one every year. Plus, a bonus. Plus, stocks.
Producer, I had a recruiter reach out to me. But even though I hadn’t heard of the company and the work didn’t seem as “fun,” I still went for it.

Well, it’s a good thing you don’t communicate for a living.
In 4 years you could:
- find another role
- ask for more pay
- change industries
- marry rich
None of those ever occurred to me! And even more surprisingly, don’t provide anything of value or shed any light onto the question and underlying point at hand. Much obliged!

Coming up on three and that’s ridiculous. They’ve tripled billing and I’ve busted my ass. Never said no. Come through EVERY time. Graciously took feedback from all. Made sense of it. And then made something of it. I feel so looked over. First decent offer I get, I am out. With zero notice. Take care of your people, people. I guarantee client will ask ‘where did they go.’ And if they ask me- I’ll be honest.
2.5 yrs and then got laid off 🤣🥲😥
10. One time I got a pay cut. One time I worked for a company that stopped paying all together.
no raises 2015–2019
😡
Three
these days i feel like they think being employed for that long is enough 🫠
Just got one. Previous one was 3 years ago.

3 years (including the time when I got my CSO promotion)
It was four years for me, and sure, I could have found another job—if I wasn’t reliant on healthcare benefits for my dependents with expensive medical needs and an insurance company I already knew how to appeal to get the coverage I was paying for.
I was loud, and leadership was full of excuses and apathy until my boss was louder and got me an overdue promotion.
One dinky 7% raise after grossly underpaid anyways from 2020-2025.
13 years ago I left a company because they hadn't given raises out in 4 years. Then a wave of others quit, and the company finally started given raises out again. During that time the owners bought themselves a 2nd house and had it totally remodeled, boats, etc.
I just got one, thank god
6 years. But I also switched from account to strategy in 2010. I still am making less than I did as an account person.

4 years is wild. I’ve only gone about 1.5 years without a raise. And that was because Covid impacted raises. I got a merit based raise and a bonus after 6 months at my current agency. Find places that appreciate your worth.
Question then.. (new to working at an agency) does it make sense to just keep jumping around agencies every few years to get a pay increase?

Especially where holding companies are concerned, that’s often the only way to get a raise in a reasonable amount of time.
