Play and win with the hand you’re dealt. There’s a lot of $$$ to be made here.

@SSA1, correct. You reap the rewards of the first 15 years of your career in the last 30 years of your career. What a messed up trade off.
Love a good conspiracy to get the week started
I hope more leave. More $ and easier path to partner if there’s actually a shortage
Someone’s gotta be partner. DM me in 12 years
Good thread to find the accountants who think they’re heroic investment bankers 😆
Your comment makes no sense.. this is an accounting thread so I’m assuming since you’re commenting on a post in this thread and your title is “consultant,” that actually means you just do accounting advisory 😆
So your proof that there is not an accounting shortage is pointing out that 300k left accounting? What type of logic is this?
Not at Boeing.
Been like this for 170 years and offshoring for 20. Accept it or you are welcome to become 300,001.

AI is taking over the accounting industry. Unless you become a CPA, which has been made exceedingly difficult, accountant's days are numbered. you need to become an auditor or an accounting based data analyst . I am speaking from years in the industry. investment bankers are next. why pay someone 150k per year when AI can do it for free?? thats the waking reality

Very true NASC in AZ just laid off so many of us, our position is being eliminated and moved to the Philippines
A lot of people I know who started in public accounting used their experience to pivot into related roles. Finance, upper management (operations, other business units), or to start their own business.
Also a lot of baby boomers are retiring.
This is what my employer is doing now! It's beyond frustrating. I was just terminated for poor performance. They insist on 80-85 financials a month! Up from 45 nine years ago. Of course, our wages didn't match the increase. And they care more about the quantity than quality of the reports. I have 25 + years of experience and have never worked for such a toxic company. I'm glad to be rid of them, honestly.

I totally agree with that one.
There’s a lot of issues going on and it’s needs to be fixed
People care! I refuse to give up and become one of them. You all have a choice to advocate and work on becoming a better human for yourself and society
then go corporate
Leave public or get a second job
Not to mention ageism...Companies only want to hire 30 year-olds with 25 years experience
That would be impossible
