First two months we did it maybe once or twice a week. After two months I’ve made it part of bedtime routine (bath, feed, sleep) and do bath everyday (only use soap twice a week or when she peed all over herself etc)
I’ve found showers work the best for us and I just get in with her. I have a small Fisherprice tub with a “hammock insert” she can sit/lay in which makes it easier — a washcloth, sound of water and humidity keeps her happy during the shower.
Same here! Our baby prefers a shower over a bath any day - absolutely fascinated with the cascading water!
It’s reduced the more kids we’ve had.
For the newborn it was less than once a week. The baby wasn’t getting any rashes and nothing else concerning on the skin, so didn’t see any need to take off the germs they need to develop their immune system. With my first it was twice a week.
Third kid I guess. Lol!
They don’t need to be bathed often. They don’t get dirty. A washcloth can be used to get off any spit up, diaper areas, stuff stuck in cracks, etc. Their hair really doesn’t get dirty, etc.
Our daughter wasn’t washed after birth, and we didn’t give her first bath until 8 days later. And then maybe weekly after that, but wiping them up whenever necessary.
That part makes me mad in the hospital - the washing of the newborn. Why?!
Thanks for your response, so at what age do you typically start giving them bath everyday?
We added baths as mobility increased. Now that our 16 mo old is walking, it’s almost daily since he’s getting dirty from exploring everywhere.
On my third now - all each received the same treatment - every couple days in the sink tub/flower situation.
The amount of wipes and anti microbial and anti rash items that are constantly keeping them clean, once a week is fine. As long as you’re hitting the hotspots.
They’re 6, 4 and newborn - the older two shower every other day. That’s all. Still no “stinky kid” issue yet.
We started out every 2-3 days until he reached 3 weeks, then started daily baths. The reason for this was to establish a routine so he knew when it’s bath-time that it’s time for bed. I think this is one of the reasons ours was sleeping through the night (with a dream feed) by 2 months old.
