When agencies post pics of their white staff, and boasts that they’re all about diversity, I call BS. A diverse house doesn’t mean the IT person or the receptionist- unless they’re also creatives!:)

I don't have a very technical background (or cloud background at all tbh) but was given an offer as a Customer Engineer for google cloud. I'm not sure if this is due to diversity hiring (woman and a minority here), I've heard google cloud is trying to up diversity hiring a lot. I want to take the offer but not sure if I'm setting myself up for failure due to not having a strong tech background. Any advice?

Does anyone have a recommendation for the best way to respond to "Well, how many people does this *really* affect?" from a stakeholder? This "Marketer" mindset needs to change, and I know my tone immediately changes for the worse when I hear this response. My most recent answer: "It doesn't matter; it only takes one person to file a claim." That was a knee-jerk reaction; I don't want to make it about the backstop the law provides. It's about inclusion informing better experiences for everyone.

Have efforts to increase diversity in real estate careers been successful, or do you think there is still a long way to go?

I work in Florida where the Parental Rights law concerning gender theory and sexuality in k-3 is currently being labeled the "Don't Say Gay Bill". I find it crazy that so many of my liberal coworkers, even in the social studies department haven't even read the bill and are just buying the low wholesale. I agree that we should leave those choices up to the parents. Do you guys have similar things happening where you're at?

My work is highly focused on inclusion and today, while driving through the park, I felt bad for laughing at a group of larpers. They have nerf combat gear, too. I tried hard not to be insensitive to them being their true selves but i laughed … hard! And now I feel bad for laughing at them.

I’m watching the creativity awards on ad age. I decided to take a shot everytime I see a POC nominated. So its been 35 minutes and I have only seen one. But that wasn’t even the surprising part. I've observed so many corporate versions become an advertising strategy (SM posts, diversity reports) without doing the actual work (increasing representation in senior leadership, salary analyses, having an effective reporting system for bias). Is this just how it is?
