Baytown is in the cancer corridor- right next to all the refineries and chemical plants. Do not go there.
Its not that bad. I lived there for a year and I really loved it.
Spring Branch, near Energy Corridor on the west side are good. Katy/Fort Bend/Sugarland further out west and southwest. Woodlands/Spring/Tomball/Cypress up north and northwest. Clearlake/Webster/Friendswood/Pearland down south. Downtown, Midtown, EaDo, or Heights if you want to be in the city proper. Garden Oaks, Candlelight, Bellaire, Hedwig, Memorial for something a bit bigger than the Heights and almost as close to the city proper.
I’ve lived in Baytown. I didn’t like it, but that’s a personal thing. If you pick one of the further suburbs (Woodlands, Katy, Baytown, Clearlake), you will be unlikely to actually do much in town. Most people who settle in those areas only come into Houston proper because of work.
The Houston metro area is almost 60 miles north and south and about the same east and west. It’s really spread out.
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it.
Go to sugar land
Both my parents grew up in Baytown. Very much do not recommend. There are much better alternatives in the Houston area
Where do you work?
Rising Star
Never heard of Houston being split north/south other than for airports. The west side is growing like crazy! (Fulshear, the strip of Grand Parkway between Katy and Cypress)
The Woodlands or Sugarland
It’s super ghetto and high crime. I live in Pearland and that isn’t to far from downtown. Love living here.
Highly recommend The Woodlands
