That actually sounds reasonable.
One way to at least rationalize that - 200 guests for $3600 means $18 per guest - does that seem reasonable for your location? Assuming each person has at least 2 drinks (probably more) I'm thinking that's a fair price? They have BYO alcohol guides online so I would check with those and make sure your numbers add up. I know none of our friends/family drink gin so instead of getting the 2-3 suggested bottle count, we will go with an extra vodka or something like that. I would personalize it and also make sure that any "leftover" bottles won't go to waste since you'll be able to keep it!
The cost can vary greatly based on what you are doing. Are you doing a full liquor bar, top shelf, just two signature cocktails and then beer and wine?
That seems really low to me for 200 guests.
This 100% depends on what kind of drinks you choose and how much your friends and family drink. Limited liquor options (maybe signature drinks?) can keep costs lower. Having bottles of every type of liquor including less popular options available can be expensive. And actually, buying a bunch of cases of nice bottles of beer can be more expensive than wine. Also, remember if one thing runs out most people are ok with drinking something else.
Are you ok with sub-$10 bottles of wine? There are actually good ones if you go with small lesser known brands from the right locations (no Barefoot or Cupcake moscato LOL). Like a Spanish cava, Italian reds, Russian River Valley Chardonnay, etc. Cheapish liquor can still be good (if kept under the bar most people won’t notice). Like I legitimately like Tanqueray gin, and Costco makes a vodka that is apparently from the same distillery as Grey Goose.
I recommend Total Wine, BevMo, and Costco and shopping around for the right prices. You could do it for less than $3600 this way. My parents spent more than this but bought a lot of top shelf stuff, and 4 years later my husband and I still have some of our wedding booze left over LOL.
Depends on the vibe of your guests and the quality of alcohol you are providing.
For example, my wedding will be approx 225 people. Child free wedding. And I want all premium liquor bottles (min $50 per bottle) with sub-par wine ($10 to $15 per bottle). I also want to make sure we don't run out of alcohol as our friends and family love to have fun, and hey, it's an open bar wedding!
We are budgeting 6k, and if any bottles are left over, we will either return or keep for later!
It's always better to over than under buy.
I think this sounds reasonable’ish but might be on the lower side. If you do wine during dinner it’s typically 1/2 bottle per person on average.
I would suggest buying bulky bottles like handles and you would prob go through 3-4 of each of those (gin vodka whiskey) then have 1-3 beer varieties. Red white sparkling wine. I think you’re looking closer to 4450-4600 which is still really reasonable. Definitely cheaper than any package deal
Well my venue charges $21 per person, so that would be about $4,000 in your case. Looks like $3,600 is a deal to me haha
You could also opt to do a "Stock the Bar" party before your wedding to help offset some of the costs. Went to one of those (and the wedding, of course) and it was so fun. Everyone brought something they thought would be great at the wedding as a gift for the couple then the couple just provided like a keg of beer at the party. The wedding did NOT run out of alcohol either lol
1 drink per person per hour 👍🏻
That is a responsible quota, yes. But an open bar wedding, plan for more, especially if you are offering shots.
