Hi everyone. A PDM specialist here. Joined Deloitte 5+ years back as ‘Senior Solution Engineer -On-site’.Later in June 2017 all these ‘on-site’ folks got rebranded as PDM. Slowly started to realize how PDM is getting sidelined as a ‘discountable’ group. Sometimes I feel contract jobs are better than being at PDM , but obviously tied up with D for visa related issues. No career progression so far and don’t see any positive changes in the near future as well.I think it’s high time to call it a day.

Larsen & Toubro Infotech Hello Everyone I want to know the work life balance in LTI. I've heard that the culture is like BPO you've to spend 9 hours in the office even if your work is completed. They are very much strict about timings. If you're login time is 10 it should be 10 if you login at 10:15 you need manager approval. The projects are also of supports? I have worked with pharmacists extensively both in consulting and now at Amazon.
The pharmacists I work with are generally smart and knowledgeable in both payer and provider subject matter and can generally speak to how both pharmacists and patients use most drugs.
Most consultants and now program or product managers ended up taking on some form of initiative or technology role and pivoted that way.
Thanks Amazon 1. We’re in Canada so Amazon pharmacy isn’t operating here but that’s interesting to know that’s how some pharmacists change careers through that

I’m going straight into consulting from graduation, but I think having pharmacy experience is valuable especially in healthcare consulting (more of a life sci guy myself). Like Amz 1 said, knowledge of how those different stakeholders interact, frontline perspective of the customer/patient journey, pharmaceutical and insurance supply/contracting chain are all applicable pools of expertise
Totally agree - you have a unique perspective and insight that other people (including those with a diff healthcare background) might not have.
Why did you decide to pursue consulting instead of staying with pharmacy?
The transition is easiest to make as a student but there are a number of paths he can think about as an experienced hire. The first question I always ask pharmacists who want to jump is what they want to actually do. Reason being - a PharmD degree can be pretty versatile and it’s easier to work backwards. It’s also better to run toward something than away from pharmacy. He can look into pharma (all functional areas), consulting, CROs/CDMOs, agencies, public health/gov’t, healthcare systems, startup pharmacies and adjacencies eg Truepill/Capsule, institutional investing, and others
He’ll probably outline better than I can why pharmacists decide to leave the profession. In the community setting it’s degraded into little more than fast food healthcare - bad hours (eg working weekends, holidays, with only 2 weeks pto), ungrateful patients and management, high stress with constant cost cutting initiatives (esp with PBMs eating into profit), low usage of our education since 90% of the job is clicking buttons or putting pills into boxes and feels quite clerical. Until recently the big chains didn’t even have dedicated time for lunch break so pharmacists would scarf their food down in the back closet if they ate anything more than a Luna bar
If he wants, have him reach out to me
Sure :)
