Hi all, I'm a data Scientist with YoE - 6 years, relevant to Data Science YoE - 5 years. Current CTC - 20 LPA fixed. With mediclaim of 8 lakhs from company. My next appraisal cycle would be in January 2025 and 2026 with average hike as 15-20%.
I've received offer for Principal Consultant - Data Science role at 28 LPA FIXED and 10% variable. Their appraisal cycle is in April, but I'll be since I'll be joining in November, I'll be eligible for April, 2026 cycle. And the health insurance is 1 lakh.

They also indicate the preferred stock price is $6 and preferred stock equity is $188k (whatever that means). They are in the middle of a new financing and valuation round.

From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

Is it worth it to go back to school for a better track to a FAANG company? The division I’m currently in seems like there are no good opportunities, and I have the funds available to finish my undergraduate full time (Canada).
