How can one transition from a Visual/graphic designer in marketing to a product designer? And what’s it like being a product designer w a visual design background? Will you completely leave behind the graphic design world or are you still wearing many hats and still fulfilling that design and creative buzz? What courses, or resources do you have to make that jump? Can my portfolio have made up projects for this? I feel like I’m starting all over in design school! Haha.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I have two offers, one from Am Law 100 firm and one from Am Law 200 firm. Am Law 200 firm is offering 40K more (otherwise the firms have same hours target and, based on discussions, similar culture). I’m trying to decide between the two based on long term career prospects, both offer opportunity for NEP (not sure how realistic it is at either). Also not sure of overall earning potential down the road. Is the 40K now worth it or am I likely to make that up at the Am Law 100 firm in the future?

Is it worth it to recruit for a PE Associate role if your current plan is to get 2YOE, go get an MBA and pivot afterwards? Seems like most people can’t /won’t stick around to make it to the top and end up doing something else anyways.
