Sounds like a fun project. We’re not self-funded but I would be interested in just knowing what are some companies that are.
Are you going to continue using a name brand for claims processing or are you going to use one of those TPAs like AmeriBen, Allied, Allegiance, IBA.
Those tend to add another layer of complexity for your employees when physicians try to get authorization. The ones that I've experienced make more errors vs. the big names.
If you're keeping everything the same except for the funding arrangement, then typically seamless for the employee (unless you change plan design), and can be a savings to the company. It really depends what you other plan changes you are making since you have more flexibility as a self funded plan.
