This is the same question I have, and the same thoughts. I'm good in development role, but don't see it as a long term career path. I want to get into scrum role more. There's certifications we can do, like PSM. Google it and you'll know. Apart from that, in cv I put all my agile responsibilities that I've done so far, and I've been scrum master unofficially for 2 teams for 2yrs...so I put that too.
Yeah core development was once the only path in IT, now there's so many areas and paths, we can choose something else, if we don't like it. Just keep applying for scrum master positions, and you'll be bound to get one. It helps for us to have technical background, demand is good. And do certifications along the way. I've started doing the same too now.
Why do you want to move to scrum master role. You will lose your technical expertise and skills
Because I feel more resonated with scrum master role than to development.
I am a good developer but I dont enjoy its role
