Fish, need your help. 5th year doing leveraged finance at a V20 in NYC. I’m good at my job but I hate the practice area. Was a direct hire. Ideally, would want to pivot to ECVC but would take PE M&A in a pinch. Have 4 years of international (non-US law) M&A and 1 year of international (US law) capital markets experience. Is it impossible to retool now? Given that markets are hot will I have to drop years (already dropped the 4 years of international experience so not keen to drop more).

I have been in the freelance web development industry for two years and have build a solid foundation of skills and knowledge. However, I know that there is always more to learn, and I am excited to tap into the collective wisdom of this community.

I left my 1st job out of college 2 years ago. I know people who went back. And lately I’ve been considering it a lot. It was a small federal contracting company. The client was amazing. I left because I wanted to explore what a bigger company had to offer. Would it be weird to reach out to see if there’s any possibility of coming back? Left on a great note and am still in touch with a lot of people there. I just really miss the team, client, low stress, flexibility (alternative work schedule).

I have my performance review today but I already know I did not get a promotion. I already have a job offer waiting and this really sealed the deal for me. My question is, what’s the classiest way to quit while still showing I’m disappointed? I want to quit on the spot but I know that might now be the wisest move. Any advice?

As a new hire, how long did it take you to get a full plate of work? Meaning at least 7.5 billable hours per day.

Are companies starting to require hybrid schedules? I'm waiting to hear from a potential remote opportunity that's located in another state and I'm not looking to relocate at all. A friend shared that they were offered a position for a role that was suppose to be remote however when the offer was extended, the company asked informed that the position had changed to hybrid. And I am being offered 20lpa in Amazon stocks spread over 4 years. My YOE=5 years and I am from DevOps background. When the salary discussion happened I didn't negotiate at all.
