I had HR discussion with cognizant on 11th June.As per HR I should have got offer letter in a week's time post approval.Till now I have no update from HR.sent many chasers as well called HR numerous times but no response.Any idea how long cogni HR takes to release offer letter.

Sadly there are few companies who still does such sort of thing. First point never ever share your original documents, if someone is asking for it means something is fishy. Holding back salary is a common thing that small company do, i have faced the same, i started sending reminder mail to HR/CTO/CEO every week and got the same after around 90 days of my LWD.
For your case you have to take legal action, or atleast threaten your HR that you are going tk take legal action if they dont return your original documents.
Make sure you go through all the points mentioned in the offer letter/bond that you signed before joining.
I have talked with a lawyer and he has asked me to send a legal notice. He told that employee bond agreements are not valid as per Indian labour laws. I am in a different city now. I am planning to move to Bangalore and fight it from the labour court there.

If you have this in written form (email), you could go to the police and file an FIR. This or a case with cyber crime. I’m not sure about the latter.
Even if you go to lawyer, just be updated with law. Sometimes if we’re ignorant, lawyers also play with you like he’s handling something bigger.
First collect all the evidences that they have done these things to you. And do research on what are all the evidences are valid in court.
As far as I know, no company has the rights to hold your certificates. Even if you signed bond, they can’t hold your certificates.
Get a better job. Support engineer role ain't gonna give you peace either. And that 2.4L is called bond amount. You need to pay it if you wanna leave before the bond period, no other option.
I would suggest give more interviews, get better role and package and payout whole bond amount. You gonna feel sigh of relief.
Make sure atleast HR are coming to office
Bonded labor is not valid. You can take legal action but before that give a chance to the company and tell you are going for legal action. Otherwise who knows you have to pay the lawyer more than the company. Next time dont give original education documents to any company.
