Try this approach:
Take everyone’s feedback and your own research into consideration and determine your self worth as best you can.
In the interview when they ask what what salary you are looking for turn the tables and ask what they are offering.
You can then evaluate their offer with yours. Push back if there is a 5%-10% (or whatever you are comfortable with) discrepancy.
You could always check a calculator, too. https://www.nerdwallet.com/cost-of-living-calculator
People enter their own title into Glassdoor, so imagine both variations apply to you. Not a designer but 90k seems low. I feel like anything that starts with “senior” should be at least 100k
I’d start at 110-125 K. Is this with relocating or would you stay in SF?
Manhattan COL is higher than SF. All firms adjust higher to NYC. I would definitely not go lower than your current salary.
How many years of experience do you have? I’m in a similar boat OP and am currently interviewing with NY agencies and I don’t plan on taking any offer lower than $100k. So don’t lowball yourself.
OP, don't ask for a "range between 100-115." If the max you're willing to ask for is 115 then ask for 115. if you do a range they're obviously going to do the lowest number in your range.
But in my opinion if you're already making 90 i'd at least ask for 120 and be happy if i wound up with 115. NYC is expensive just like SF. don't low ball yourself. Think bigger picture here.
I went from SF to NYC recently and went higher. Def don’t settle for lower no matter how big the crush is.
