Hi Fishes, I have faced this thing alot that when a Female employee demands 'X' amount, HRs are upfront in saying- why does a female require that much money?.I already had an offer in hand and wanted them to match the same coz they were offering a real precious thing"Brand Name". The HR person being a female herself added that the cost of living in tht particular city is not much so I could adjust in their offering easily. It is really disappointing to see these scenarios.How to deal with such situations?
Firstly, remuneration must be based on the skills you offer and the value you bring to the organization and not only on the cost of living in a particular city.
Secondly, I have seen many girls who were far better than me and hence got more salary compared to me. Citing such gender based reasons sounds foolish and shows what type of a culture the organisation has irrespective of the big brand name..
You should look for better options
I totally second with your thought..better to move on to another company where they don't have criterion based on gender
