Does PwC pay out PTO when you quit? Anyone with past experience know? How does this work?
As a new grad who has been at a company for just a couple months, how free should I be about using my benefits - taking time off etc?
Does anyone else feel as though they ought to either (1) quit your job or (2) cry when senior folks in your department boast somehow (or complain) they’ve not taken a week+ long vacation in two years?
Started at a new firm 3 months ago, first two months was swamped staffed on a huge deal, (my only file) did my hours everything good. July: deal was supposed to close did not due to regulatory stuff but my work stream is done and over and am now really really slow, asked for work to people I had worked with to help them close - nothing, staffed on a new deal , client on vacation so everything is on stand by. I’m freaking out don’t know how to reach to partners/senior associates (ctd in comments)
Felt good seeing the fireworks riding down I20 thru atlanta tonight. Enjoy the last 30 minutes of this holiday and we’ll keep going strong tomorrow. 💪🏽
Planning a 2 week vacation in August - Ireland or Germany? Haven't spent significant time in either.
My girlfriend and I really want to take vacation in early May but since I'm writing the CFE this year, would it be advisable to bank those days for studying? How much time do we get off to study?
Now under a week to 6 nights at St Regis Princeville Kauai. No work laptop, just my wife, baby boy, beautiful sunsets and expensive drinks. First real family vacation!
agile [ aj-uhl, -ahyl ] Creative department works through the summer while the account and strategy team goes on their annual summer vacation.
Sick for the first time in 2 years because I spent time with extended family and their kids. What is it about kids constantly being sick?? I spend 2 days around toddlers and my immune system takes a vacation.
Starting MBB soon and would appreciate any recommendations on preparing myself for success on my first day? I’ve got a number of weeks until I start and will take some time off, but I’d also like to stay sharp and come in feeling confident. Any suggestions are welcome.
Could some of the moms share their favorite Christmas traditions and activities? Looking for some positivity this holiday and would love to learn about special things that you do with your families.
For those companies / roles with unlimited pto, how does a payout work if you leave and /or are laid off? Receive nothing or some set amount?
My first holiday season in-house after a couple of decades in private practice, doing the same kind of transactional work that I’ve always done. My year is functionally done. No one else is around or working. I’ve been so conditioned to expect to grind out through the holidays that it makes me think of how Brooks in Shawshank had become “institutionalized.” I only worked hard the last couple of days because I set some deadlines so as to get things tied up before the holidays - the old mindset!
How is the proposed tax holiday going to work? You don't pay taxes now but owe it by April 15 2021?
Is unlimited PTO a curse or a blessing!
Is it fine to decline a virtual holiday party that goes from 5:30 - 7:00 PM? I like my team but I also don’t feel like staring at a screen for another 1.5 hours longer than I have to.
New bowl alert:
Have a FAANG interview in 1 hour, not nervous at all ... Already have one offer in hand. Is it normal? I wanted to go to FAANG so badly until recently I got rejected by Google, cleared my head and now I don't even care anymore.
Anyone work for FTI and can give me more visibility into the work culture and environment? Currently work in technology consulting and looking to make the switch as a consultant to FTIs financial services industry. Wanted to learn more about engagements/ learning curve
Is doing freelance work on the side (when I’m off the clock, of course) considered taboo? Considering signing up for Fiverr to make some fun money but I don’t want any bad blood with my current job because I really like it and am not planning on leaving any time soon. (Sorry if this is a dumb question, this is my first copywriting job out of college and I’ve been 100% remote, so it’s hard to get a feel for things like this!)
would it look bad to go from UG to 1 yoe in industry to 6 months at tier 2 to starting at mbb? concerned it is too much job hoping that may be looked down upon in mba apps or PE recruiting
How many of you have seen this email or received it? Nice addition to unlimited vaca policy. Also to the folks who haven’t visited their family since COVID
Seeking advice / recommendations: Hello everyone, I'm trying to get into real estate investing. Some of the books I've read have talked about buying multi-unit properties and utilizing investors to get the necessary capital. Does anyone have experience in getting investors? How do you identify investors who may be interested? Are there any sites where you can invest in or post real estate investment opportunities? Thank you in advance
Can you choose your what city is your work location at Deloitte?e.g. if you live in New Jersey but work out of New York, can you set the NJ office as your home location for commuting/expense purposes?
With Delta on the rise, is anyone hesitant on looking for new jobs for similar reasons when Covid originally happened last March? (Rescinded offers, pushed start dates, etc)
Have two credit cards (no annual fee) looking to possibly get a third with a fee with good travel benefits. What do you guys recommend?
I'm a risk manager with 8 years of experience in banking. If I wanted to jump into the consulting world for new experiences, are there opportunities in the Big 4 that have partial work life balance, or would I be better off in a smaller global consulting firm (ie. Accenture)?
I’m pregnant with my first. About midway through first trimester. I’m unbelievably sick. I haven’t been able to function since week five. I barely eat. Water and a few popsicles a day. If I’m lucky a few pieces of watermelon. I’m perpetually sick, physically unable work, and struggling to care for myself. It was suggested I take short-term disability for the next six weeks to see if this gets better. Anyone done this and know how it works?
I have a final round interview for a non-investment role at a hedge fund in the NYC area. I was told I would be discussing comp with the founder of the fund. What kind of compensation can I expect going into the conversation? The firm has about 35 employees and $15bn AUM. Role is business development/client service associate and this would be my first full time role. I just want to have a general idea of what comp could/should be so I feel prepared to discuss
Interviewing for jobs right now and all of these places have interview processes with 4-5 rounds. When did this become the norm? I am exhausted and all of my “doctors appointments” are starting to look suspicious.
How do I meet someone in Seattle when I work from home and have the worst luck with dating apps??
I’m leaving consulting for a flex data role (bi / engr / analytics) at a startup. I’ve been in consulting 3 years, and my salary went from 100->120. I was happy until I started reading some of the salaries out there..How are people finding jobs with 150 // 175 // 200? What can I do to make my background more desirable for employers? I don’t know what I’m interested in yet, but I have been enjoying exploring data architecture and algorithm development
Whatas the best thank you gift you ever got? Something that showed you that the person really appreciated you.
Conflicted on choosing recommenders. Am in FDD so it’s not like I have a constant direct supervisor…(work with a different team on a deal by deal basis) due to covid drop in the market I was pivoted to another service line for 6 months (eg working capital, restructuring, commercial diligence, etc) and am thinking of getting a supervisor from this since it was longer term than the typical deal (2-3 weeks). Does anyone have advice on this?
