I need a career mentor for the tech industry!!!
What’s the longest time you’ve waited to hear back after conducting your final loop interviews for FAANG Companies??? I finished mine last Thursday & they told me I will get my decision between 9/6 - 9/9.
I feel like this wait is torture!!!!!! I’m also a CW so hoping I get this role so I get converted over to an FTE.

Citadel? This is a no brainier, they're paying you more for a terrible old school financial institution and uninspiring work. Also, in Chicago...
Leave Google only for a better place.
I think any new job likely requires short term sacrifice, so assume you go ‘all-in’ you compare what that looks like relative to the 150k. You can always boomerang and command a higher salary, but probably trade offs regardless of how good culture is. Same would be true at LinkedIn, even though our WLB and culture is exceptional, you know?
Citadel culture is toxic. Have SWE friends there on commodity desks where they are treated like IT support technicians by the portfolio manager. WLB is brutal. You can get better TC, culture and WLB somewhere like HRT or JS.
Also, how many YOE? $400k is first year TC for rockstar new grads ($250k base + $150k signing).
years of experience
Yoe?
Currently 2.5 YOE. I like my position at G, the WLB is pretty decent and I know that it'll be a lot worse at Citadel. The main appeal is the $$ lol, but I've heard bad things about the culture and general work-life so wasn't sure if it's worth it or not. I would also be required to move to Chicago once things start opening up again, which I would be open to and I know that the cost of living is slightly lower than what it is in the Bay. My initial thought was to work there for a couple years and then boomerang into a similar high-paying job with better WLB, but curious to hear other opinions.
What was your primary motivation for looking in the first place? Was it higher TC? If so, couldn’t you use this offer to ask your manager for a raise? Or interview at other tech companies at a higher level and use Citadel’s offer to negotiate? My opinion is that you really cannot take for granted what having a good boss / team / culture can do for your morale and general happiness.
Does $400k include signing bonus? I would be careful to count signing bonus
