Toronto 15 years ago was pretty good (house/rent etc), nowadays, it's a bit of a CF, traffic, transportation, cost of living, taxes......miss London immensely, it's good if you have a family, but if you're single, stay in the big smoke, far better lifestyle for the singletons. Toronto likes to think it's NYC but it ain't, nowhere near.......it's not the league of a London, NYC, HK..........probably closer to a Chicago. Definite downgrade.......plus Pearson as an airport is the worst.
Tell us how you really feel..
I am Canadian and I was wondering if it is worth coming back to Canada as my family is there and I am feeling lonely now in London. I also feel like London is overly competitive and people are just not nice.

Whether it’s worth it or not really depends on what you want in the long term. Both countries are facing challenges at the moment - high cost of living, recession, unemployment, etc. and things don’t seem to be improving anytime soon.
Are you planning to continue with McKinsey or are you considering an exit? If you want to stay at McKinsey, it might be helpful to look into how things are at McKinsey Toronto and make your decision accordingly. If you're looking to exit, think about where you want to go next and how the market looks for that company or industry in Toronto.
If you're feeling lonely in London and not connecting with people, it might make sense to move to Toronto and be with your family.
In some ways it’s a downgrade. You won’t have the same level of museums, history, theatre. The transit here doesn’t compare, it’s not like you can take a train ride to Paris or Easyjet to Barcelona.
In some ways it’s an upgrade, cost of living and salaries in consulting seems better, although that’s got worse in recent years. It’s not like it’s a small town, there is still lots to do here. In the summer it’s great!
Nothing from the indigenous peoples? Lol get off your high horse.
If you plan to buy a house or own a car understand that real
Estate is ridiculously overpriced in Toronto and car insurance is highway robbery although the price of vehicles is much better. Food prices are a little higher for some things. Healthcare is the same mess in Canada as it is in the UK. Taxes in Canada make the UK look like a bargain although the current UK government seems intent on redressing that balance. It's swings and roundabouts - if you are coming on a tour do it - the experience is well worth it - but think carefully if you are looking to move long term.
