OP I started my PHD a couple years ago and took a break from it. I still haven't decided if I want to go back to it or not but it has never had any sort of negative impact on me finding jobs. If you think it is best to quit then do it. It won't have any long lasting impacts.

Unless you are going into higher education as a professor or something this likely won’t matter. definitely not an issue in most corporate roles.

Np. Other than certain specialized fields or jobs, PhDs are basically just for the degree earner. They don’t tend to boost careers much more than advanced degrees like MBAs considering the amount of investment they require. If it isn’t working, do something else that fires you up.
I'm in the exact same boat. And there's a whole discourse of people online who quit their PhD programs before finishing. I don't think it's hugely negative for your job applications (did you get a master's along the way? That can help explain it). I would just come up with a really clever and interesting way to spin the story to make it look like you didn't "quit" but you chose wisely to leave.
I did a master before starting PhD. Thanks a lot for sharing.
You are not alone, many of us are like that. n general, not much impact on jobs. Just try to publish at least one paper on any part of your thesis in any journal. All the best!
The percentage of people who don’t finish their doctorate degree programs is 75% from just the course work section and another 75% quit and never finish their dissertation. It was the hardest thing I ever did in my life but I did finish it. I also did not take a break and think that this was part of the reason for finishing it. I did think about quitting but just couldn’t consider it because of the time and money involved by that point of time. All I can say is that you have to want it more than anything as I think in the long term that is what enabled me to get it done. I wish you all the willpower and confidence that you can do it.
