Hi ladies! I’m in my early 30s and haven’t never been in a successful relationship but would really love to have kids. I’m considering doing it on my own but terrified by a few things- effort, work, Indian community...

Has anyone done something similar?

A friend of mine, highly successful 38yo Indian woman (grew up in South India, not even born/raised here, but has been living and working here since her 20s) found a sperm donor and just gave birth last October. She’s doing well and is doing it with the help of a full time nanny (fam is in India and I get the feeling not super supportive). I’m in awe of her. It’s not easy by any means but it can absolutely work, just be prepared mentally and financially.

On the other hand you’re still young. Just because you haven’t been in a successful relationship thus far doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen (and women are having children into their late 30s/early 40s these days). So if you prefer to do this with a partner, don’t write that option off just yet ;)

So inspiring of your friend!

I was in love with this idea some time back, I’m in my early 30s too. But I’ve been a single parent child for most of my life , a part of me craves that father figure at home so I gave up🥺
Given the fcked up dating scenes I think I will consider this option soon 💕

Strength & love to those who pursue this path 🙌

Question: Girl friends parents finally came over for a ristha. Everything went great or so I thought but now she wants to time to think about moving forward. The pain point she brought up is that we are in different states and she is feeling pressed. Although in that time she has started communicating less and I literally had to beg her to get on face time. My gut says she wants to end it but unsure. Any advice ? Comforting others:
When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??

I just wanted to reach out and let you all know I understand how tired and beat down we all feel at this point in the year. I’m feeling it too. I also know exactly how students can try us. What I’m working on every day though is to see my kids as God does… not the kids that know how to push buttons and drive me crazy, but as the beautiful lives they are, all deserving of the best we can give them every day. I know it’s not easy, but that’s what I’m working on.

How have you combated your fear of rejection? I fixate on such small things as when my friends, for example, reject plans I have made. This definitely makes me more averse to putting myself out there and makes me ruminate on past perceived failures, which are clearly not good for personal growth

For those that have a nanny: how did you find him/her? Been having no luck with nextdoor, care.com and sittercity. I need a part time nanny two days a week. Anyone in the LA area have a referral for me? 😀

Potential unintended consequences of my parenting decisions is the most stressful thing ever.

Ladies, 👋. I’m hoping this is a start to a great network. As a single Desi woman in my 30s, I’m struggling in some spheres of life and I see that other great women are too. I see women put up with bad colleagues/jobs and toxic partners/family because we all are conscientious. I hope we tap into strength and make some meaningful connections and friends here. Totally open to local meet-ups/virtual meets to work on a better us! Open to expanding to non-fishbowl users as well if anyone interested

need advice.

I have been working in an interim role as a portfolio manager. I was promised that the role would be mine. However, after doing the job for 2 months, I have been advised that we might not get the funding for the role and I might not get the raise and the title but my responsibilities will be the same.

Its a political minefield.

How should I back out elegantly that I need to be compensated fairly and competitively from this mess without burning any bridges
