Hey I was in a similar situation last year . I have a master's degree in statistics and I was working as Associate Consultant. I chose to leave that job and have been learning data science in more details since past 4 months and trust me it's really difficult to learn data science while continuing your job ..I feel like I've learned so much I wouldn't have been able to while having a job. It's true that job market for data science is brutal but I don't regret my decision as I was always passionate about data science. If you're truly interested in data science and not just thinking about high paying job then you should go for it
Where are you learning data science? Can you please help
If you want to do data science just for job then believe me you’ll regret doing it. There is no saturation for the job in the market though. It totally depends on the skillset you have. And there is much more to data science then these courses teach at a scratch level. Try to dig deeper and find your interest firts
I would suggest you to continue in your job and learn in parallel. It's very difficult to enter as a fresher, hence I advise to not leave your job and show your current role somehow related to data, that'll help you.
Current job market is brutal and it is highly difficult to get into data science without prior experience. Though it is hard.. please finish certifications and work on side projects and internships. Never lose your ground.
