Hi parents! I'm 31 and a senior analyst, can't help to feel "behind", I've been on mat leave for a year and now pregnant again so will be out of another 6 months at least (very happy with my pregnancy btw!!) But still can't really shake off the feeling that I'm too old to be a senior and should've been a manager by now. Anyone going through the same thing?

Has anyone pivoted to a fed gov job in the intelligence space? Such as a civilian intelligence specialist, etc. would be curious to hear your path! Thanks.

Now he wishes to come back to India and wants to join some company here. But seems like similar opportunities are very less, say close to 3-4%. What is your opinion if he takes a DevOps course and do a career change ? What will be the % of getting interviews ? Even if he gets selected, how much will he get?

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

Received my first prenatal massage at 19 weeks today and the therapist was trained and did a bit of myofascial stretching techniques. Never touched my stomach. Just lower back, arms, legs and feet. I have had cramps in my abdominal area since a few hours after the massage. Not sure if it’s cramps or stretching pains. Drinking a ton of water to flush out toxins, but is this pain normal?

Anyone ever get acid reflux every time you lay down to nap or go to sleep? Middle of 6 months and feel like acid reflux just hit me. :( any suggestions besides taking tums?

We are planning to try conceiving in a month. Have been taking prenatal since 20 days. I got ovulation test kit recently. Planning to reduce workout intensity (am lifting usually) during the weeks between trying and testing for pregnancy. I have started reducing caffeine already. Is there anything else I should be cautious of at this point?

We were not trying to conceive. And I was drinking alcohol like twice a week.

I’m around 21 weeks and have been dealing with a lot of leg, tailbone, back, and general muscle pain. Since I do work long hours Monday- Wednesday (10hr +) I’m trying find a comfortable chair to switch to. Any recommendations? Currently I’m switching every hour or so between my kneeling chair and standing.

I’m having a really hard time with my changing body. 13 weeks, I don’t have too many bad side effects of pregnancy or anything so I consider myself lucky (no nausea ever etc) but I’m depressed at work, my skin is completely broken out and showing new broken face capillaries, and I’m not showing a bump yet so I just feel fat and big. I don’t know where this “glow” is but I look in the mirror and literally am grappling with not recognizing myself :( it’s been impossible to find any clothes too.

Trying to set family expectations and would love thoughts on 2 things. 1. How long after baby will I be ready for visitors beyond our parents? I’m thinking a few weeks. 2. Our 3 grandmothers are 1-3 hour flights away (3 diff places) and cannot travel. When will we be ready to take baby to see them? I’m thinking 4-6 months but that would also be flu/RSV season. Can’t predict the future but family is already talking about trips and I want to set expectations and do what is best for baby. TIA!!

Last night I went over to my friends house (she has 2 kids, 2 and 4 yo). She and her husband were asking me about my pregnancy and planning. And were asking what I’ve prepped to date. I’m only 13w2 days so I think it’s way to early for buying stuff, but I did mention we hired a baby nurse for when the baby comes. My friend completely berated me, short of calling me a bad mom already, saying “what is she going to do all day? Don’t you want to bond with your child?”. I’m so upset by this.
