Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
What jobs are currently paying 85k?
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Was the check for workers comp? Best bet is to check with HR and ask what you should do. If they sent the check in error, they may just take it from your next paycheck or make you pay it back. Better to address it sooner than later.
Talk to your manager right away and explain the situation. It's possible there was some confusion about how to pay you or someone simply made a mistake. I'm assuming you realized there must be a mistake after you deposited the check, so it's not like you've done anything wrong. Just tell them right away and try to get the problem fixed.
