Honestly, if you’ve never cried in the walk-in, are you even in restaurants? 😂 Last week, I hit my limit. Triple sat, 86’d half my section, expo barking at everyone, and I just snapped. Sat on a milk crate in the walk-in next to the pickles, and ugly cried until my ears went numb. Came back out like nothing happened. What’s your best (or worst) walk-in meltdown story?

I had a full-on breakdown after a 14-hour shift when my sous chef berated me in front of the team. Cried into a box of butter sheets until the fridge hum calmed me down. Sometimes that cold, quiet space is the only place that feels safe to just feel it.

I once threw a tray of ramekins, screamed into a box of spinach, and told the sous to go f— himself. Ten minutes later we were plating together like nothing happened. Walk-ins are sacred emotional purge zones, no judgment.

Not mine, but I had a coworker slam the door to the walk-in after getting berated by a customer. Lots of banging sounds inside, then two minutes later he walked out cool as can be with some very red knuckles. No idea what he was punching in there, but I totally understood it. Some customers just make you want to rip your hair out.

The walk in? No, but that sounds interesting. It is probably sound proof and might be worth checking out the next time I need to have a little breakdown. No, I typically I have my breakdowns in the bathroom, but if I can manage it, I will run out to my car. Recline the front seat and have a good cry there lol.

Has anyone been successful in negotiating the schedule on a global pregnancy bill? My provider won't bill by visit and split the global cost into four payments all due by the 28th week. I don't understand how that's legal since it is so off the calendar of services and crosses calendar years (and insurance coverage), where most costs are incurred at the end of pregnancy with increased visit frequency and delivery.

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
