I’ll try to do less 60+ hours work week just to meet unrealistic deadlines
In recent years I've gotten better at setting boundaries. But the problem is that it really comes down to enforcing them, and that's not always so easy. I've gotten to the point where when things are just unrealistic I'll speak up and try to hold my ground. Even if it doesn't always work, it works enough to make the effort worthwhile.
When and if possible, take advantage of PTO. Even if it’s a random Friday , those sorts of breaks will help with a stressful role. Also come in with the mentality that - in reality- nothing is that urgent… a lot of business stakeholders will press on, but just having this mindsets can put things at ease AND give you a bit of courage to push back
OP my plan is to get better about saying no and not taking on too much. My problem last year was that I was constantly burning mysel out taking on more than I could really handle and being afraid to just tell people that is not something I can add to my plate right now.
