How bad is it to quit your job during the busy season? I'm pretty sure I'm getting an opportunity that would have me leaving right in the middle of tax season. It's better for me in the long run, but I'm definitely worried about burning bridges...

Agreed with Manger 1, not ideal but I think we as employees think too much about how our decisions affect our employers. Sometimes you need to be selfish and do what's best for your personal development. Don't give less than 2 weeks notice and thank them for the years you worked there. Beyond that is more than generous

It’s pretty much understood it’s just business at the end of the day. First lesson I learned in the workplace is no one is gonna watch out for you besides yourself. I just recently saw a whole team get poached within 3 months, no one really holds it against anyone. It’s really management’s fault for having such a barebones team that losing one Jenga piece makes the tower collapse.

like

As a manager, I definitely wouldn't be happy about it. But you have to do what's best for you in the future.

The answer is it depends on the culture. If it’s highly competitive and toxic Big 4 culture, consider the bridge burned. This is what I’ve heard from all the CPAs I know with that background. If it’s a more relaxed place, they will understand. My brother just tried to quit and they told him to stay on at the same pay, and they will not expect him more than 40 hrs a week this season and will revisit his comp afterwards.

like

Some bridges are fine burning if you decide to pursue an opportunity in a completely unrelated field.

Have a follow next day after your two weeks unless you feel like you need a serious break.

If you are worried about your boss being angry because you have an opportunity to improve and grow, then you are in the wrong place to begin with. As long as you give the proper notice and thank them for everything that you learned and use verbiage similar to “hope our paths will cross in the future”, it should be fine.

Congrats on your new position and much success to you!

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

Hello Fishers,

Globant (Service) - 15.6 LPA Fixed

TIAA (Product) - 16 LPA Fixed (In Discussion)

Xcaliber (Service) - 16 LPA Fixed

Which will be a better offer considering WLB and growth? Is the salary as per industry standard or should I negotiate for more? Also is it worth moving from product to service company?
