If you want to find some new wines one of our clients is a new online wine marketplace (Scoperta = discovery in Italian) and you can get flat shipping with first purchase in the flight club . Try stuff. If you are in a city that has them, a big walkaround tasting is a great way to get exposure to a lot of stuff (eg WineSpectator Grand Tour or similar). Wine bars with tastes/flights also good to try stuff side by side.
Wine classes (WSET or other) or books are a good way to get more of the knowledge side, but also travel to a wine region that has wines you are interested in learning about.
Good luck - it is a fun journey!
Find a good local wine shop and ask the staff for recommendations, they will be excited to show you what they have. A good shop will have good options for every budget.
Befriend your local wine merchant. Go to tastings and ask questions.
Trying wine, reading, talking to industry people, going to wine bars and talking to the staff, talking to sommeliers at restaurants, courses
Doing tastings at wineries help a lot! You get to try a handful of them and usually they give you some background on the wine before tasting each one
