Sounds like a good deal if you’re earlier in your career since earnings will eventually increase. If you leave you may get better comp for now but your peers that stay can eventually pass you. Industry can be a hit or miss from a WLB and opportunity perspective whereas you know what you’ve got rn and are okay with it which is an asset. Obviously if you’re more experienced and partner is not in the cards than all that changes and a jump for more comp makes sense.
This is where I’m at almost exactly. Outside of my busy season KPMG is wonderful. I don’t think I can find a job that pays as much for as little work.
What office are you in? Also, what industry do you audit?
New York, and Asset Management.
Not sure if you're in Advisory but it's the same work n schedule you explained for more money! Happy to help refer to Deloitte if you're interested in exploring it and seeing what the final offer looks like if you make it 🤷🏻♂️
D1: not OP, but I’m an audit S1 at 98k in an HCOL market (high performer, home grown.)
Your numbers are about what I’m seeing in my region for advisory as well. What I come back to every time is that as cost benefit; 4-12% raise isn’t worth the service line/firm change. Giving up the internal network costs more than that.
Tl;dr—thanks to the great resignation, audit pays less than advisory still, but is competitive to the point of not being worth jumping.
