Bain & Company Hey! Got dinged at BCG and Mck and then hadn't heard back from Bain, but just found out I made it to final rounds. I haven't been prepping for over a week as it'd be two since my first round at Bain.
Help! Whats different or similar about Bain final rounds? I'm applying to Texas offices for an experienced AC role. I also may have to have an accelerated final round as I'm leaving the country for most of April. Bain & Company
Paypal Hello, I've been offered Data engineer /Software Engineer at PayPal, india.
How's the company doing, is it profitable? Bit skeptical about the recent layoffs at PayPal.
Any data engineers at PayPal around? Whats your thoughts, how's the team doing and how would be the growth?

“Some people have done it” isn’t really all that compelling. At least one BCG associate exited to a role that involves winning a bunch of Emmys and marrying a supermodel; that doesn’t mean it’s a path that anyone can follow.
Consultants don’t typically get given significant P&L ownership unless they already had it as consultants. So a handful of appropriately senior or lucky partners are able to step into senior operating roles running big BUs. Otherwise, the usual path is consultant->strategy / BD->P&L, and the first P&L is rarely huge (of course if you do a good job your responsibilities grow quickly).
Getting to P&L ownership is quite doable out of consulting, but they don’t just hand you a huge BU to start out.

I went Consulting Partner to Bank MD to FinTech COO to Consulting Partner to FinTech President.
The key for me was making Partner but being known for having helped launch two extremely successful companies as the trusted advisor, and having their Founders vouch for me.
How many years were you a Partner before jumping to the bank?
You don’t. The stories you hear are mostly exits to start ups or people with legit experience in that industry. I work in F100 strategy, and all our BU VPs are all 20+yr industry veterans which makes sense since they oversee thousands of jobs and shit tons of revenue.
