How do you ascertain the work life balance of a company in a real way?

For me this is my top priority and I'm curious if anyone has strategies as it relates to finding out the REAL balance in a company's culture.

Is it interviewing ex-employees?

LinkedIn sleuthing ?

What do you do?

Cheers!

Even within the company, it depends on the role. It also depends on how you react to job demands as well. I know people in my company only working 40h weeks while others are high performers working 50-60h weeks. It really depends not just on the company culture, but the role and you react as well.

In your interviews, ask what a normal day is like. Do you have downtime or busy periods? This would help you know along side the JD of the role

You need to assess the hiring manager. To the above point it’s more about the team for which the tone is set by the leader.

Are you a Gen Z by any chance.

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!

How do I strategically discuss or negotiate remote work abroad in an interview or when verbally handed the offer?

I am currently interviewing a few of companies. I want to be able to travel (abroad) and work. Time zone isn't an issue, I can work at the same time zone or ensure significant time overlap.

How would you ask for remote work without setting anyone off?

New to Toronto, moved to the west end of town/ just past - in Etobicoke. I celebrate my 40th a few days after NYE/NYD - would love some recommendations on moderately priced but nice ambiance restaurants for myself + husband, and my extended family. Everyone is scattered throughout (Hamilton, Barrie, Lyle, Newmarket, North York). Don’t want anything too fancy but don’t really know where or what is good and not downtown.

Any recommendations? (Open to GTA of course).

I work for a tech company that pays 100k tc plus 50,000 stock options. I have great work life balance, work 4 days per week on a 32 hour schedule plus it’s remote. Lately, I’ve been feeling like the compensation is on the lower end and just wanted to see if it’s in line with industry standards

How are you all feeling about these plans to add more bike lanes to the city? I'm all for it but I've seen a lot of small business owners acting like it's the end of the world.

Curious to know what you've seen as working to non working dollars split in Canadian agencies. Reference any specific brands (or categories) if you can. Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.
