How do you balance your social life during the first trimester? I’m really struggling to attend events (housewarmings, dinner with friends, etc.) because I barely have any energy for work, and in my free time I would rather sleep. Eating also feels like an experiment these days so the fear of going out and not knowing if I will be able to eat or be energized enough to socialize makes me anxious. I don’t want to isolate myself during pregnancy but I just want to spend my free time on the couch

Protect your energy and enjoy the luxury of sleeping when you can. A year from now, you'll see why sleeping feels like a luxury. First trimester is when vital baby organs are forming, and that takes a big toll on energy levels. As for the near future, I would recommend RSVPing for things that happen on the weekend so you can rest during the day or before an event. You're likely to feel more energized after a few weeks of sheer exhaustion and/or in second trimester, so hang in there!

Thank you!!

The last part of your last statement is pretty much the answer to your question. 😊 if spending free time relaxing on the couch is what makes you feel good right now then that is what you should do. Sometimes that first trimester exhaustion wanes by the second and you’ll be feeling a little more like yourself. That’s the time for being social. Don’t feel bad about bowing out of events to prioritize you or your sleep. Growing a human is serious business.

Just slow down and conserve your energy. Focus on the baby. Social life can wait but these 9 months are extremely critical and a luxury before you are deep into it. Seems like this is your first one so take my advice and channel all your energy towards yourself and the baby

Thank you! It is my first child and I’m definitely starting to see that I can’t show up the same way I used, and I have to be okay with that.

You can still show up how you used to, just not in this exact moment. First tri will pass and you’ll be back at it!

I didn’t. lol. I skipped everything bc I felt so awful. People get it, especially close friends. Protect your energy for the most important stuff

Hi so I need help. I currently work to bring clients into the company i work at for web design, social media management, and brand strategy. I also do this as feeelance on the side, so where do I draw the line between who I refer to the company I work for or who I personally do freelance for? I don’t want to short out the company I work for but also love freelance and am more than capable of the work.

Hello Everyone!

I very recently accepted the position of Sourcing Specialist at TidalHealth - a large Heathcare group in my area. A few of my target positions include Social Workers and Therapists. If those in this group can provide me knowledge on what you are looking for in employment offers, salary expectations, the ideal work environment, and any/all factors that would help me in my quest to improve my work ability.

I appreciate any and all responses!

Kind regards,

How many therapists (and social workers too!) see a therapist themselves? Do you find it helpful?
I think there's this myth that therapists have all their own sh*t figured out, and for me at least I know that's far from true (hopefully it isn't just me). On the contrary, I think we should be leading by example!

Trying to set family expectations and would love thoughts on 2 things. 1. How long after baby will I be ready for visitors beyond our parents? I’m thinking a few weeks. 2. Our 3 grandmothers are 1-3 hour flights away (3 diff places) and cannot travel. When will we be ready to take baby to see them? I’m thinking 4-6 months but that would also be flu/RSV season. Can’t predict the future but family is already talking about trips and I want to set expectations and do what is best for baby. TIA!!
