Sometimes I feel like my anxiety ignites overthinking. And usually my anxiety is about the past or future. So, what I do is think of the present and focus what I got to do now. That usually makes me stop overthinking.
Learn how to harness it and put it to good use.
I struggle with this too but I sometimes use Notes to write down everything I’m thinking about. Helps to get myself out of that moment just for a little.
Meditation can help. You can get to a point where you just watch your thoughts flow by and you realize they aren’t “you”... that can give you some freedom to separate and give you the power of intention.
Tapping is another technique that has worked for me.
And — believe it or not — just thinking the word “Stop” has come in handy.
Last, a good therapist can also help — especially one who works in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy).
