The best part is, soon you’ll be fired because you haven’t proven that you can nail those “cool” briefs (because you weren’t on them)
Do some work that will get you noticed by the people that make those decisions and you can work on the cool briefs yourself. Why would you put a creative that has not done great ideas on a cool brief?
You can make shit briefs into great ideas/work. The real issue is if you have CDs who will back you up. The boring stuff is a layup in their mind. The easy stuff that anyone can do. “Golden children” and “teachers pets” often get the “cool” briefs and CDs eat their ideas up because these people make them look good. Find the CD who knows lesser briefs can actually become bigger. I’ve yet to observe many leaders like that, but they’re out there. Politics are why our industry is putting out majority lifeless work at the moment.
