I’m not sure how this will impact this bowl, but it is worth pointing out the need to assess whether there should be concern for those in this bowl. While we all understand ADHD is something attorneys are completely capable of managing with legal positions, not everyone in the field agrees with that. https://joinfishbowl.com/post_va66ztgmkw

You need to start with something small that the ADHD goblin doesn’t recognize as “work”. That lets you build momentum.
Take an extra dose of your meds.
Recognizing this is not super helpful for day-of issues, but it does need to be said, and I constantly have to remind myself: you need enough sleep and enough food. Your medication is not a silver bullet, you really need each component.
And water! I’m foggier on days I don’t hydrate.
Commenting to stay on top of potential helpful responses lol

I struggled with this on Sunday and Monday. Super frustrating. I try to stand up and have a walking pad under my desk that helps me focus. Some days it just doesn’t turn on though
Take a shower or get some movement in. Not 100% success rate for me but it has helped.
I do this too. The shower feels like a “reset”. Sometimes a 20-30 min nap will do the trick too.
This is so relatable. I’ll think of more but I usually have to put my phone somewhere else and turn on upbeat music
I don’t know why this works but it does: sour candy and power walking. The most sour you can stand, while walking around the block a few times at almost out of breath pace. Copious amounts of it. The sugar and the sour wakes my brain up. DONT TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF when you get home. Keep those suckers on, and your brain will be like “yeah we are still working”
Try it warm…
I don’t. I take those days to do other lower brain power tasks I’d been putting off. Amazon returns, dishes, etc. I take it as a sign I need a bit of a reset
Cold showers
If you’re WFH those days, get out of the house. I find I have fewer of those days when I’m in the office, but it’s not a silver bullet.
I try to do something productive. Anything—even if it’s strictly personal. Although tidying up my messy desk is a frequent one. Music helps me focus on that task. And then often I get distracted by actual work, like an email comes in prompting an immediate reply or the phone rings. And then I start working for real out of habit.
It’s not great for prioritizing because most often my brain is resisting doing the thing that really needs to be done. But I’ve built in contingencies to manage that to avoid major issues (e.g., malpractice or getting fired).
I was recently introduced to Jessica McCabe’s YouTube channel How To ADHD. She has a playlist on motivation. I found the first video insightful: https://youtu.be/OM0Xv0eVGtY
