It’s really what A1 said - work dries up, and not because of the market.
Another sign is when you stop getting active feedback on work that is relevantly new to you, or otherwise stop being mentored and taught (assuming you were getting this in the first place). Feedback and training is non-billable time, and nobody wants to spend non-billables on a hopeless cause.
Work dries up, not on account of the market
Or work dried up, despite the market.
At my firm, you definitely stop getting new cases but you also get micromanaged like a mofo lol partner wants to see everything of substance and redlines tf out of it and involves other people, even if less experienced by years, to add input or assist on the work.
If you’re asking this question, trust your gut and leave. It’s better to leave when you’re not on a PIP and before you’re asked to do so. You can search your situation on fishbowl. Doubtless someone has experienced it before.
Employer is documenting a rationale to fire you, but you could be able to turn a PIP around. Some people are able to do so. Most aren’t.
When u get a meeting set up randomly 5 mins before it begins
You start being micromanaged and there’s never a right answer, or being tasked with precarious situations or bad cases that aren’t going anywhere and might get declined.
