How do you like to unwind after a stressful week at work? Today I just needed to have a calm evening to relax and watch my favorite show on tv

When the weather is nice, I like to get out and take a walk, which helps my mind focus on something else. I notice if I’m not actively doing something, I tend to think about the work day or stress about the next one coming.

Walking is such a good simple activity

We've been watching through all 49 seasons of the show Survivor. It really helps me decompress and it's very calming, funny enough. I also do a lot of crocheting and other crafts.

Definitely something to take the mind away from

I keep a stash of Jack Daniels and Crown Royal, some fireball, and some flavored whiskey airport shots.
It's my shrine to a desire not to live a life of servitude. And proof of my professional humanity.

I have two questions. I have 10 years of experience in multiple sectors and I have been trying to gain a leadership position. I am attempting my PHR this summer but what are some tips in order for me to obtain a leadership position? Also, how long does it take to obtain another position out of state? I am trying to move to Houston but I don’t want to move until I am confident I can obtain a position in the city before packing up and leaving.

I just accepted an offer in writing. The new job will start the background check next which I’ve been told it may take a while to complete. I don’t anticipate any hiccups in the background check but is it wise to wait until the background check is complete before turning in my notice?

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!

Hello, I am looking to make a career change that starts at a minimum 75K salary. The economy is tough right now and I can no longer afford to stay in my current role. I have a bachelors degree in Sociology with experience in managed care, utilization management, & clinical admin.. Does anyone have any suggestions for a possible higher paying career that I would be qualified for based on my background?

I have a MHA, MBA, and BSHA. I’m wanting to get into a supervisor or manger role but I don’t have the experience. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I dive in and start getting the experience I need? I live in Washington and work in Oregon. Also, anything using my MBA would be favored as well, this degree is not healthcare specific. Thank you!
