There really isn't any difference, you just have to curate your interactions to match your audience.

Understanding the language used within that age group, how to make sure they feel comfortable, appropriate tasks, etc..

If you're doing moderated testing, you will most likely have to focus more on your interactions with the tester to create a comfortable atmosphere and use positive reinforcement more often to keep them moving along and to prevent possible frustration if there is any friction with the product. If it's unmoderated, all bets are off. It'll be trial and error to make sure the test is appropriate. You might have to do several test runs to get things right for you to have a successful test without additional friction from the test itself.

The fun part is whether or not you'll be able to accurately analyze their actions/choices during or after the session if you're not familiar with child/teen psychology.

Let them use it. Or show them the product and ask what would they do with it.

I went to a T14 law school, got great grades and glowing recommendations, and wrote (what I thought was) a great writing sample. But I got rejected from all 70 federal clerkships I applied to. The only thing I can think of is: I took a non traditional route after law school and did a 2 year public interest fellowship in a niche field of administrative law. The rejection gave me a lot of self hatred. I still really want to clerk. Any advice? What is wrong with me? I feel like a failure.

A good friend of mine graduated from Parsons this past summer, has degrees in Journalism and French, is a talented photographer and designer (which I feel I have a pretty decent eye for after working at a design-driven branding agency for half a decade). Hi! I have many years of experience in Compensation and Benefits (HR) strategies to attract, retain and motivate talents in big corporations. I want to find ways to bring meaningful and practical solutions at reasonable costs for these organizations. Any ideas on how to become aware of their specific needs? C&B, talent management, performance appraisal.

Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?

I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

Any recommendations on good online courses for someone looking to explore Ux design? I am a service designer looking to learn more about ux design to broaden my design experience. I am looking for courses that help you build a portfolio and eventually land a job in product and experience design. I am checking out product design courses at dribble, Brian station and careerfoundry but haven’t found more independent reviews or comparisons.

Bridge between Customer Support and Product Design?

Hiya! I am in the final round of interviews at an EdTech platform for a role that is the bridge between the Customer Support and UX/Product Design teams. I act as that bridge in my current role but on a more informal basis because it is a smaller company.

Would anyone be willing to share their perspective (positive or negative) on the Product/UX end of this relationship? I want to make sure to ask the right questions.
Thank you!

What is the difference between Principal Design Strategist & Design Strategist?

My current title is the latter and I’m interviewing for a Principal role. The title suggests it’s more senior and would appear to be a promotion on my resume but the jd sounds similar to what I’m already doing. I’m currently and IC, Principal is also IC. The only nuance I got from the recruiter is that there is no actual designing in this role.

Is this a case of title inflation?

I am product designer with a fair amount of experience (6yrs).

Recently was interviewed for a Sr. role in Booking but unfortunately the team finds me better suited as a core individual contributor.

I am also in the advanced stages of some lead designer positions in other companies.

However I am really interested in joining the team at Booking, especially because of the design culture.

What should be my reasons to accept or not accept the offer from booking?
