Will be getting a 12 week old puppy this weekend. Have been doing a lot of research on how to manage separation anxiety, but curious to see if anyone has any concrete tips (that worked for your pup)?

Congratulations! Yes, crate training. And overnight. What breed? Share pics of the pup. They are so adorable and mischievous!

She’s a miniature schnauzer. Picking her up tonight, and can’t wait!

like

Crate training is said to be the best way. Puppies need a safe spot for themselves. Add lots of blankets to make the crate as warm and cozy as possible. It’ll also help with potty training.

like

Also, make it their safe hang out spot! Always leave the door open, keep their water bowl in there, and feed them in there too ❤️

Always use the crate in a positive way and never a punishment. Start with small incremental alone time and then work your way up. I would highly suggest taking as much time off work as you can right now. Get them a special puzzle treat toy that they only get in their crate. KONG makes a bunch. Also, wear an old shirt you don’t want, then give it to them so they have your scent to comfort them :)

like

Another suggestion is not to make a fuss over the dog when you leave/come home. If you remain nonchalant and calm the dog will sense that it’s nothing to get worked up about and it’s no big deal.

like

Day care and 1 night boarding. That’ll help build trust that just because you leave, you’re coming back for them.

Every night for like the past month I’ve been getting incredibly emotional about adulthood. I miss the lack of responsibility, the simplicity of life, friends were always around, and less pressure to be successful.

Been having trouble moving on since girlfriend ended relationship 3 weeks ago after 2+ years of dating. Before ending it she came over 3 weeks prior to basically give me a chance to work things out and we had a good discussion but then I went back into our routine and didn’t really fight for it or have serious follow up convos that we needed. Now I just have so many regrets that I let her go. I know we still love each other and left on “good” terms but can’t forgive myself for my lack of action.

How do i find out if I will be happier divorced or more unhappily staying married. 2 kids; 2 & 4 YO. They don’t hear the arguments after bed time and don’t understand the bruises yet but I know it’s just a matter of time. It would be so much harder not seeing my kids everyday than living with the pain, loneliness and lost friendships. But I’m tired. And so sad. Lost. So alone. Does anyone have something that turned it around? He changed? You changed so he did? Ayahuasca retreat maybe?
