Hi All,
I joined Tech Mahindra for 5 days only and didn't find suitable timing for my project and emailed resignation mail to manager and HR. After that HR asked me to resign over portal but at the same time blocked my portal. After requesting many times they didn't unblock my portal and pretended like they want to unblock but there is some issue going on and marked my profile absconded. I have cleared fnf but they are not providing reliving letter but added pf amount also. What to do?

Interested to read others’ responses. I’m not in this field but looking to break into it. A friend of mine said his company was recently looking to hire an in house privacy counsel but ultimately gave up because competitive salaries for privacy lawyers were above their hiring budget. I take this to mean that privacy lawyers are in demand and will be for a while (or at least until enough lawyers notice the trend and move to this specialty).
Atleast over the next 10 years it is going to grow. You may see hybrid roles dealing with AI governance. Right now there arent many enforcement mechanisms for AI, but once those start getting put in place they will likely fall under the privacy/cybersecurity area of law.
What agency do you work for and do you do privacy work? I’m a fed looking to get into privacy. Thanks.
Took a job in this area 10 years ago when it was THE least cool area you could imagine (in the eyes of others). It has delivered on every front. That said, I think itll be essential for practitioners to broaden beyond privacy and cyber, because counselling work is slower these days, and investigations (while they can be huge) are unpredictable. Perhaps more importantly, clients generally expect privacy lawyers to just know about related areas.
I appreciate the insight. I currently do litigation in this area
I have been in this field for 10 years. It’s a great area but not one which always gets the recognition you would think, depending on the firm. The large law firms want this practice but not willing to necessarily invest in it. Also other practice groups ‘dabble’ into it whilst not really knowing what they are doing. I was an IP litigator before, and I feel Iike this area is becoming like IP - you don’t dabble into it, you’re either an IP lawyer hardcore or you’re not. And clients increasingly expect people to be actually specialists in this area rather than e.g. be a commercial lawyer or TMT lawyer who ‘also’ does privacy.
I think it’s a very good area to be in I.e. not a lot of people can or want to do this. It’s an area that is ‘in demand’ and few lawyer know how to do it well. It’s constantly evolving like everyday there is a new judgment or guidance to take into account, and you must be prepared to put in a lot of work to keep on top of that. I think some firms understand this, some firms don’t. I.e. lawyers in this field will need to put in more NB time for knowledge management purposes and attending conferences etc.

Neither will go away, neither will be enough on their own to make you GC.
I’m not aiming for GC but wondering: if I’m in this field now, what should I look to expand in order to leave GC option possible for the future? Commercial lit? Corporate?
Once you get the knowledge of cyber ghost, there’s not much more you would have to learn. It all about uncovering the picture within a picture.
