Bain & Company Is it possible to transfer a Bain offer to another region before starting? If yes, should I contact my recruiting or target office first to sort this out? I‘ll start as an AC soon and would like to transfer my signed offer from a DACH office to the Nordics due to personal reasons that were not relevant back when I was interviewing… Bain & Company

Don’t do it. I’m a lateral hire and absolutely regret it. Sure the quality of the work and people is a little better on average, but the marginal increase in pay and quality of work does not offset the giant increase in arrogance and slide churn
Agree with BCG1, M1, M2.
BCG has no commitment to their lateral hires. They bring them on to handle surge times then let them go quickly. Promotion rate is extremely low. It’s been a horrible experience for me, and I wish I’d stayed at my Big 4 firm. Would have been paid more with a clear path to partner.
I joined bcg as a C from Big 4. Was a 45% pay rise, double the bonus, more impactful work, more brand value. It has really accelerated my learning and career - I get weekly job offers on LinkedIn for top stuff. Working at a high growth, high margin business in the premium segment vs big 4 also created a very different vibe. Don’t feel abandoned as other laterals describe, got promoted on time etc.
Trade offs are huge - not a healthy work life balance, higher stress, and you have to put much higher effort in to really stand out.
+1 on the notes above. I am an MBB lateral hire into BCG. The “lateral hire program” is a joke. They recruit you in and then leave you to die a quick death. Would not recommend. However, if you are just looking for the MBB brand on your resume … come for a year, brace yourself for misery, and then leave as soon as your eligible.
It only really exists every 5 years of so when there’s way more demand than consultant supply
I transitioned after 6months in B4 Deals team for an ~80% pay increase
Anecdotal but this is my opinion: INCREDIBLY worth it. People that actually care about the work they’re doing/ have pride in their jobs. Mentors that are invested in your success. More personal development opportunities in my first month than in the full 6 at Big 4 due to level of assumed responsibility.
Thank you. Would be open to connect via DM?
Also a lateral from Big4, it was tough but BCG transformed my career trajectory
