This question comes up like three times a week. Probably not if you know how to sell yourself and align your sales process to SaaS. Find a company who sells software for the healthcare industry/doctors.
Awesome, thank you. This helps with the LinkedIn searches!
Not necessarily. Sell yourself as having science/med sales background. The skills you have learned over 10 years are transferable to almost any product so don't sell yourself short
Awesome, thank you
I interviewed at Thoughtworks for a BDM position, don’t know how I even got the interview bc I’m way under qualified but the pay is extremely high there. Base and coMission
Lol, gotcha, thank you for going more in-depth. That sounds like a great base pay!
Not necessarily. If you can sell B2B, you can get into tech. Case in point. I used to sell cars - and not even B2B. It's not what you sell. It's not even to whom you sell. It's can you sell and are you good. And are you willing to learn about the product. My two cents.
Wow, good story, thank u for sharing, and congrats 🙌
Sell medical SaaS or something to the same TYPE of customer (retail medical). You won't have to take a backwards step unless you're doing an industry switch.
Thank you, good info.
You might. But I have learned the process will take awhile and you may just get an AE position. Sometimes you just need to find the right hiring manager (don’t expect much from HR.) I tried moving from Financial Services to Salesforce (who is trying to move up the ladder at Financial Services firms) and they gave me the runaround. It was quite annoying to interview with people who were not as experienced and didn’t seem to care.
BDR/SDR is for 20-somethings with little experience. Your experience, on the other hand, is VALUABLE. Find a hiring manager who recognizes that.
Yes, this could be the case. Why don’t you first start by getting in touch with a recruiter?
Great idea, have experience with recruiters? Mind sharing your experience?
I went from med device to a national account manager role in tech. On paper, tech looks great when you see the comp package. But think long and hard about working on a computer all day every day. If you are use to being out in the field it's a big transition. Looking back, Med device was like gym class for me and tech is like my hardest class in college all day everyday for a 20% pay bump.
Interesting comparison. Been in Med device selling a disruptive Med device for a start up that went public. May be one of the most challenging positions I have had, and I have a clinical background as a nurse and been in Med device for 10 years. I think it depends on what you’re selling. I’m also interested in getting into healthcare tech sales. I manage only a handful of centers and a decent amount of my time is spent on the computer so when it comes to screen time, May not be a huge change for me. I’ve seen a huge shift in the Med device industry when it comes to quality of life and pay in the past decade.
